Grief: The healing of the broken heart

When experiencing grief, we must be mindful that it is a natural process that we all must move through at our own pace. Although it is tempting to want to move through it quickly, to “get over it”, or try to push ourselves along this process, we must be mindful of respecting our own personal process. Pet Grief is not always acknowledged as a valid form of grief which may result in many of us feeling ashamed by the depth of our pain. One of the most helpful ways of processing grief is giving ourselves permission to feel the feelings we are experiencing. Just allowing ourselves the space to feel without judgement or self-criticism can be extremely beneficial to us. Always remember that experiencing grief after the death of our beloved pets is a normal and natural emotional response to such a heart-breaking loss.
