The death of a pet is not always acknowledged by society or validated by peers, friends, or coworkers of bereaved pet owners as an acceptable and appropriate time to grieve. It is easy to see, then, that the lack of social acceptance and support for the bereavement of a pet can complicate the grieving process and pet owners may begin feeling isolated or hesitant about expressing their feelings to others. If you feel you are not being supported enough by others then I encourage you to give yourself permission to feel your feelings and empower you to create your own nurturing environment. Start tapping more into your own innate healing abilities. You can do this!
